From 1986-88 he served on various local IEEE chapter posts and from 1987-92 he was an Associate Editor of the IEEE Antennas  and     Propagation Transactions. From 1992-96 he was an Associate Editor of Radio Science and since 1992 he edits the "EM Programmer's Notebook" for the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine. In 1993 he edited a special Electromagnetics issue on Antenna RCS, in 1995 he edited a special Radio Science issue on Computational Electromagnetics and in 1997-98 he edited the Centennial A. Sommerfeld issue of Electromagnetics. He was the general Chairman of the 1993 IEEE Antennas and Propagation/URSI International Symposium and often serves on Committees for Workshops and Conferences on Computational Electromagnetics. Since 1995 he has been an elected member of the Administrative Committee for the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society. He was elected Fellow of the IEEE for "Contributions to Computational Electromagnetics Including Hybrid Finite Element and High Frequency Methods," and in 1997 he received the Univ. of Mich. College of Engineering Research Excellence award. He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Tau Beta Pi and Sigma Xi and an elected member of URSI Commission B.
